SKINNY WHITE CHICK
S J TUCKER EVENTS SCHEDULE
I have just a pair of events this month- a festival in Oregon and a workshop and concert pairing in Washington state. Here they are:
Friday September 16, 2011 — 4:45pm Faerieworlds Harvest 2011 Mt. Pisgah Park 34999 Frank Parrish Road Eugene, OR 97405 Sooj and Betsy take the stage back-to-back with Glenn Falkenberg! Faerieworlds Harvest is happening for the very first time this year. It'll be smaller than the Summer Celebration, and hopefully every bit as much fun, if not more. http://www.faerieworlds.com/harvest/
Saturday September 17, 2011 — 12:15pm S. J. & Friends on the Neverworlds Stage, Faerieworlds Harvest Festival Mt. Pisgah Park 34999 Frank Parrish Road Eugene, OR 97405 Sooj will also close the Neverworlds stage each evening at sunset Be on the lookout for a special late-night performance tonight as well! Neverworlds will be the nerve center of all the best shenanigans that happen during the Harvest festival. Come and join us in the cool shade- you never know what you'll see. Pirates, pixies, puppets, and damn good music are assured. I have several special guests and surprises up my sleeve for the weekend, and I'm not the only one! Saturday

Tucker & Mark Lewis SoulFood Books 15748 Redmond Way Redmond, WA 98052 (425) 881-5309 with Storytelling by Mark and Music by Sooj & friends, plus a special collaboration by Mark and Sooj at the end of the night! purchase tickets for the show:http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/199074 BONUS:
THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT! Mark will teach a storytelling workshop from 1-3pm on this day, hosted by Betsy and Dave, up the street from SoulFood in Redmond! For those of you who don't know Mark by name, he is our fabulous tophatted emcee at all of the Faerieworlds events. Mark is also a master storyteller who's been featured on national television and at ren faires for decades. I'm very much looking forward to sharing stage and learning space with him in a more intimate setting than the festivals we've both worked for so long. I hope you'll join us for the workshop, the show, or both! Workshop is limited to 20 participants; cost is $25 per person. Email S. J. to reserve your spot: [email protected] (note: buying a $10 ticket for the show and reserving your $25 workshop slot are two different transactions.
3) After Mark and I weave our magic together, I'll be striking out for parts east at last. On October 1st, I'll be performing at Front Range Pagan Pride Day in Denver, CO. Also scheduled to appear at that event are Raven and Stephanie Grimmasi, Cara Cantarella, and other wondrous performers and teachers. The event runs from 10am-6pm. http://www.frontrangepaganpride.org/home/ >
From Colorado, I'll head to northeast Arkansas, near where I went to college, for WytcheHaven Weekend 14: Honoring Our Ancestors. I'll be performing there with the divine miss Bekah Kelso, as well as song-sisters Big Bad Gina from Fayetteville, AR. I'll be participating in the ritual there and having as much fun as I can stand; it will be good to get back into Pagan festival space at Pyrth Annwn! http://www.wytchehaven.org/festival14.html >
From Arkansas, I will head over to Memphis (home again!) for Summerland Grove's Festival of Souls 2011. FOS this year has the potential to be pretty intense, as the community in Memphis lost two very special priestesses this year to cancer. I'll be there with the Traveling Fates and Big Bad Gina, singing out to heal. That's what's confirmed so far for the next several weeks. As always, I have all of my confirmed shows posted on the schedule page here, if you want to double-check anything: http://www.skinnywhitechick.com/shows.php
Speaking of singing out to heal, my heart goes out to all of you today who are marking remembrance of what went down in NYC ten years ago today. I was living in Memphis at the time, and 9/11 was my day off from my bookstore job (yes, I once worked retail). My boyfriend woke me and told me his mother had called to tell him to turn on the news. We watched, on our tiny TV screen, as the second tower fell, and it was at about that moment that I realized there were no planes flying over our house as there normally were, Memphis being the FedEx hub of the known world... The next night, Skinny White Chick in its original lineup played the Hard Rock Cafe in Memphis. It was our most important gig ever, at the time. Needless to say, our audience was a little small. Even Beale Street felt the shock wave. And then, almost exactly six years ago, I was up all night at my first time at Burning Man, wandering that beautiful temporary city, hearing the first whispers of what was happening to New Orleans and Biloxi at just that moment- heavy equipment crews and folks with disaster relief experience were already leaving the giant party on the Playa to head straight there, to do all that they could to help, or so I heard. It's amazing what so many of us have lived through. Lastly, before I forget to tell you- the "Neptune" video is almost ready to go live. I am so excited for you to see it. It'll be premiering on Youtube shortly. I'll send out another message to the National list the moment it's posted. Also,
I'll be releasing TWO NEW SONGS this week: "Rootless" and "La Sirene" will debut on my download site as an internet single, with beautiful accompanying artwork by Rob Carlos and with bonus download goodies arranged by Mr. Wiley. Keep an eye on the download page to grab it all when it goes live: http://music.sjtucker.com Our target release day for the single is this Tuesday. See you on the road, and thank you for being part of the magick and the journey, always. We're in this together, and I am so grateful for you. -Sooj Purchase securely here: Amazon: http://fburls.com/29-8fv0ppHp iTunes: http://fburls.com/83-AvTmR8Cu
